Political violence will only end if Kampyongo stops being home affairs minister – Singombe

DUNDUMWEZI member of parliament Edgar Singombe says it will be difficult to completely end political violence in the country as long as PF youth leader Stephen Kampyongo remains home affairs minister.

In an interview, Singombe said Kampyongo’s party position compromised his ministerial duties as he was on the other hand the boss to unruly and violent PF cadres who do not even respect the police.

“It will be difficult to completely end political violence in the country as long as PF youth leader Stephen Kampyongo remains home affairs minister. Let the appointing authority change him and people will see change,” Singombe said.
He also said it was wrong for PF to capitalise on the statement made by UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema to party members to defend themselves whenever attacked because it was backed by the constitution of Zambia.
He pointed out that there was nothing sinister in one defending themselves if attacked because even private individuals owning guns that were licensed by police had the same purpose – to defend themselves when attacked.
Singombe accused the ruling party of being the one propagating violence in the country and not the opposition parties.
