ZANACO says people remain central to its business and that it will continue with digital strategies that ease access to banking services. Zanaco acting managing director and chief executive officer Lishala Situmbeko said the bank was resolved to ensure that its presence in Central Province grew by working closely with the people.
He was speaking at the Zambia National Commercial Bank head office in Lusaka yesterday when he handed over a K150, 000 cheque to Central Province minister Sydney Mushanga for the sponsorship of the Central Province Investment Forum and Expo.
The Central Province Investment Forum and Expo 2018, to be held at Mulungushi University in Kabwe, is scheduled for October 8 to 13 under the theme “accelerating investment for inclusive and sustainable development.”
“That expo stands for what we also stand for as a bank. As a bank, we are very clear in terms of the areas that we serve. Clearly, out of this, the people are central to our business and what we are saying is that wherever we are, the business that we do is directly related to making sure that individuals like you and me are able to do our banking services and as close to our homes as possible,” he said. “So, you will notice that in addition to brick and mortar, we also have our flagship Zanaco Express which is really anchored within the communities where people live. This is a very important aspect of our digital strategy and this is something that we will definitely continue [with] going forward.”
Situmbeko said for Central Province, Zanaco had been present there for a very long time.
“In all the outlets where we are, running all the way from Itezhi tezhi to Serenje, we want to make sure that our presence there grows and the businesses within the province prosper and we definitely see the Expo as enabling that to happen. We are quite passionate about areas of water and sanitation just to make sure that the communities see us as relevant and as partners,” he said.
Situmbeko added that Zanaco believed that through the forthcoming investment forum and expo: “We will be able to realise the vision of getting development on a more sustainable basis for the nation going forward.”
And Mushanga, who was accompanied by Central Province permanent secretary Chanda Kabwe, said: “We have no doubt as provincial administration that slowly, the investment expo for Central Province is becoming a reality because of the donation that you have injected. The doors of investment to this bank in Central Province will remain open and we want to appeal to the bank to see if it’s possible for you to open branches in the newly created districts of Luano, Ngabwe and Chitambo.”
