Zim govt resumes Mugabe style arbitrary arrests of trade unionists
I am deeply disheartened by the unjustified heavy crackdown of trade unionists who were protesting peacefully against the recent transaction tax applied by the government. The leaders of Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions were severely beaten and arrested together with other 33 trade unionists. This is completely gross violation of human rights by Mnangagwa’s government. I firmly believe that people should be allowed to voice their concerns and grievances freely just like in South Africa where The Congress of South African Trade Unions frequently protest against government incompetence. I call upon the local and international human rights organisations to effectively step in and help to stop these persecutions stop the perpetuation of Mugabe’s brutalities.
