THE Constitutional Court has declared Margaret Mwanakatwe’s as duly elected member of parliament for Lusaka Central, overturning the High Court ruling that nullified her election on account of electoral irregularities and corruption.
Judge Ann Sitali delivered the ruling in a courtroom filled by PF leaders and cadres, among them.
The court upheld ten out of the eleven grounds of appeal.
PF secretary general Davis Mwila and ministers Professor Nkandu Luo, Joyce Nonde Simukoko, Jean Kapata, Ronald Chitotela, Freedom Sikazwe, Elizabeth Phiri, Olipa Phiri and Kampamba Mulenga and Lusaka mayor Miles Sampa attended court.
PF members burst into jubilation immediately judge Sitali pronounced Mwanakatwe, who was clad in a green dress, as duly elected member of parliament.
