SA camp will help Nkana focus – Beston

NKANA coach Beston Chambeshi says the camping in South Africa will keep his players focused on football going into next week’s CAF Champions League preliminary first leg match against Uniao Desportiva do Songo FC in Beira, Mozambique.

Zambian clubs begin their CAF Interclub campaigns mid next week with Zesco playing away to little-known AS Sonidep of Niger, Green Buffaloes hosting Al Merreik of South Sudan while Green Eagles take on Young Buffaloes of eSwathini in Choma.

Green Eagles held their pre-season camp in Botswana where they played a series of friendly games.

All Zambian teams playing in continental games have had little rest owing to the change in the football calendar as demanded by CAF in order to conform to the FIFA calendar.

Nkana flew to South Africa yesterday where they will camp at Milpark for four days before flying to Beira on Monday.

Chambeshi thanked his executive for organising an exclusive camping away from home, saying it will go a long way after a busy local season.

“Yes, it has not been easy, you know the season was tight, but thank you to my executive for organising this camp. It will help the boys just focus on football,” said Chambeshi.

“The Barclays Cup final helped us prepare for the continental games since we have not had enough time but this camp is good for us to concentrate on the game in Mozambique.”
