FOUR Chinese have appeared in the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court for being in possession of 55 counterfeit automated teller machine cards and 10 point of sale machines with intentions to unlawfully utilise them.
The accused are expected to take plea today before magistrate Sylvia Munyinya.
Fang Hua ping, 44, Yu Fei, 36, both businessmen, Zhuang Wei, 35, a contractor and Luo Tao an interior designer are charged with six counts of unauthorised access to intercept data and being in possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime.
The accused possessed 55 counterfeit ATM cards with intentions to unlawfully utilise them.
It is also alleged that the accused have been using the counterfeit ATM Cards to withdraw money from various ATM machines.
Further allegations are that Fang and Zhuang on dates unknown but between January 1, 2015 and April 31, 2017 in Lusaka possessed K40,000 in a Barclays Bank account, property reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime.
