PF member and former Chingola mayor McDonald Mulongoti says there is no kakunkubiti (short stature) in the ruling party as implied by NDC political consultant Chishimba Kambwili.
Last week, Kambwili, a rebel Roan PF member of parliament, reiterated on Prime TV that Luanshya mayor Nathan Chanda was a kakunkubiti.
Chanda was recently elected Copperbelt PF chairman during the ruling party’s provincial conference in Kitwe.
In a press statement Mulongoti stated that: “no one is a kakunkubiti (understood to mean short stature)” in PF.
“National Democratic Congress (NDC) self-imposed political consultant and Roan Patriotic Front (PF) member of parliament Mr Chishimba Kambwili must be condemned in the strongest terms possible for implicitly likening newly elected Copperbelt PF provincial chairman Mr Nathan Chanda to a kakunkubiti during his press briefing which was televised by Prime TV on 1st January, 2019,” Mulongoti stated.
He demanded that Kambwili retracts his “demeaning and unchristian statement” forthwith.
Mulongoti added that it was amazing that Kambwili liked deriding other people on account of their appearance.
“Henceforth, he should tame his tongue and strive for moral eminence, especially in the wake of his claim that he will run for presidency in 2021. Kambwili needs to understand the diversities of society and avoid indulging in vulgar language with the hope of gaining political mileage through his usual comedy,” Mulongoti stated, adding that it was highly detrimental to have a person like Kambwili who was so divisive and hateful but yet seeking public office.
He indicated that Copperbelt PF members were pleased with Chanda’s election as a provincial chairman.
“He (Chanda) comes with a wealth of political experience and unquestionable party mobilisation skills. That said, we are not at all interested in one’s physical appearance or stature; all we require are hardworking individuals with sound development agenda both for the party and our country Zambia as a whole,” stated Mulongoti.
