I SEE nothing wrong with the National Democratic Congress using my face to advance their political agenda, says Chishimba Kambwili.
Responding to queries on why the NDC has branded a party utility vehicle “Chishimba Kambwili for President-2021,” the Roan PF member of parliament admitted that he was being courted to be the party’s candidate in the 2021 general elections.
He however said he had not yet made a decision over NDC’s proposal.
Kambwili explained that after people spotted a branded Toyota Quantum, he had received calls insinuating that he was campaigning outside the campaign period.
“Yes the NDC want me to be their presidential candidate in 2021 but I have not made a decision yet. I remain their consultant. But if the NDC go ahead and use my face to champion their political programme, I will not stop them…I am a strong political figure,” Kambwili said.
“Branding that car does not mean they are campaigning either but it’s just a utility vehicle. Just like it’s fashionable these days to see that in every constituency there are cars branded ‘ECL 2021’. Does that mean they are campaigning? Let them take it easy. Imbwili has not started yet. They will feel my weight.”
Meanwhile, Kambwili’s presence in Luapula set the province alight.
Kambwili is in Luapula and Northern provinces on a familiarisation tour.
He drew crowds at every point he stopped with people taking advantage to complain about their hardships.
“Twalichinja kuno, nimwebofye tata. Twachula nama tax, ala muletulandilako,” said a civil servant in Mansa.
As his delegation exited Mansa at the Kawambwa junction, he was ambushed by another group of locals who heard that he was driving through.
They complained and encouraged him to soldier on in his quest to speak for the poor and the marginalised.
