A 68-YEAR-OLD Lusaka resident Justin Mwaba Chikonde yesterday took fresh plea and denied defaming President Edgar Lungu.
Chikonde is charged with one count of defamation of the President and appeared before Lusaka magistrate Faides Hamaundu.
It is alleged that Chikonde on November 3, 2018 at Lusaka, with intent to bring the name of the President into ridicule published defamatory matter by word of mouth (in extremely crude language).
When the matter came up before magistrate Hamaundu, the prosecution substituted the charge sheet and Chikonde again pleaded not guilty.
A Zambia Information Communication Technology Authority (ZICTA) employee Chita Chibesakunda told the court how officers from the Zambia Police requested ZICTA to extract a video that contained defamatory remarks.
