LUSAKA High Court judge Florence Lengalenga has sentenced two men to death by hanging after founding them guilty of four counts of aggravated robbery.
The judge imposed death sentence on Dalitso Njobvu and Sunday Daka after the prosecution proved that the duo jointly acting with Stewart Chiweza and Stewart Mwansa and other unknown persons are the ones that robbed Bernard Mulile and his wife a motor vehicle Toyota Harrier registration ALZ 6884, K5,000 cash altogether valued at K84,000 and used actual violence on the couple in order to steal from them.
Njobvu and Daka in another count attacked a police officer and stole his firearm, uniform and money.
The accused persons also stole assorted items from two other people and a motor vehicle.
Judge Lengalenga jailed Njobvu and Daka to death in counts three and four.
The judge slapped Njobvu with 25 years and 30 years imprisonment with hard labour in the first and second count.
Judge Lengalenga further jailed Daka, Chiweza and Mwansa to 25 years imprisonment with hard labour each with effect from January 2016.
The convicts at the time of the robberies used iron bars and guns to attack the victims.
