THE Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops has urged Catholic health facilities and institutions to carry out their noble ministry with love, joy and generosity.
In a message over 27th World Day of the Sick which fell on February 11 under the theme, “You received without payment, give without payment”, ZCCB director for health Right Reverend Patrick Chisanga reminded managing agencies, administrators and caregivers in all Catholic health facilities that carrying out the noble ministry with love, joy and generosity was a concrete way of proclaiming the continued healing presence of Jesus.
He has since recognised the great Christian witness of all who are caring for their parents, children and relatives who are sick, especially the terminally ill.
And Bishop Chisanga, on behalf of the president of ZCCB and all bishops, acknowledged the special role played by the Catholic Church health caregivers and collaborators in the mission of integral evangelisation through provision of quality health care.
Bishop Chisanga urged priests to be generous and constantly reach out to the sick with the healing grace and consolation of the Sacrament of Anointing.
