IT’S A DIFFICULT SITUATION – GEORGE

ZESCO United coach George Lwandamina says Saturday’s one – all draw against Al Hilal Omdurman of Sudan is a difficult situation. And Nkana’ s 3-1 win over Ghana’s Asante Kotoko in Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup group match has come at a cost as the key defensive pair of Ghanaian Richard Okran and Kenyan Mohammed Musa will miss the return match on Saturday due to suspension. Nkana rose to the top of Group C after goals from Soutra Tshimenga and a brace by Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba at their home ground in Kitwe.

Zesco United remain second in the group after managing a 1-1 draw with 10-man Al Hilal Omdurman of Sudan.

Coach George Lwandamina said after the game: “I know it is a very difficult situation, we wanted to come out of this game with three points but unfortunately we have picked a point. I am sure it is important than losing. If you pick a point in a group like this one, chances are still overwhelming and we still have three games to play and I am sure we can even pick maximum points away from home.”

And Nkana coach Beston Chambeshi said his technical bench would work out a plan to seal the void left by the duo’s suspension.

Kotoko got their goal through dangerman Sognie Yacouba.

Asked how his team will cope in the absence of the duo, Chambeshi said he has enough cover to mend the defence in the return match.

“I think we have three games to play which is nine points, the boys know what is ahead of us. We will psyche them to play with that high level of endurance so that we see how many points we collect. Yes, the two players will miss the game but we will sit as a technical bench to plan how to fill the gap because we have other equally good players,” Chambeshi said.

Kotoko coach Charles Akonnor said his team was now under pressure in the coming games.

“…there is always pressure; we have to deal with it. When we go back, there will be pressure to win the next game. We are playing the next two games at home, we must win,” he said.

Nkana lead the group with six points, followed by Zesco, with Hilal in third on four points while Kotoko are bottom with three points.

Zesco travel to Sudan to face Hilal while Nkana head to Kumasi.
