We’re mighty sorry, Wanderers supporters tell Numba

THE Mufulira Wanderers FC Supporters’ Society has unreservedly apologised to Zanaco coach Numba Mumba over unpalatable remarks attributed to its supporters during a Week 7 game between the two teams on Sunday.

Numba left the bench 35 minutes into the first half after Wanderers fans allegedly repeatedly insulted his late wife.

MWFC-SS national chairman George Katongo stated that Numba is a senior figure in the game and must be treated with due respect.

“We understand football as a unifier and we reject any actions suggesting otherwise. The respect which he has earned both as a player and coach… It’s in this same light that we implore our fans, far and wide, to practice maximum restraint even in our bad patch,” he stated.

Katongo stated that the SS will continually engage the leadership at the club to resolve the many challenges that seem to be weighing the team down.

“We are hopeful that Maite will rise again and be counted among the greatest in Zambia and beyond,” stated Katongo.

Zanaco restored their one-point lead at the top of the 2019 transition FAZ/MTN Super Division Table after thumping Mighty 6-1.

Tafadzwa Rusike’s hat-trick and goals from Peter Banda, Chitiya Mususu and Romaric Pitroipa inspired Zanaco to an emphatic 6-1 victory over Wanderers at Sunset Stadium on Sunday.
Zanaco’s next match will be away to Prison Leopards.
