Lungu vows to fire civil servant ‘saboteurs’

THEY will lie to you, but they [opposition] are not coming in 2021 because they are evil schemers, says President Edgar Lungu.

UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema and Democratic Party’s Harry Kalaba recently told police officers fired for beating violent PF cadres in Sesheke not to worry as they would be reinstated in 2021.
And Hichilema on Wednesday said suspending protesting council workers stinks of dictatorship.

But President Lungu said that he would not hesitate to ensure that civil servants working against or hindering government’s efforts were fired.

President Lungu said this shortly before departure at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Airport in Ndola.

President Lungu said he would not tolerate or entertain any government employees to be detractors of government’s agenda.

He said he would ensure that those frustrating government efforts are removed from both local government and central government.

“I have heard people saying no, we are harassing people…[relating to the suspension of 70 Kabwe council workers over a protest over unpaid salaries] but, as a civil servant, you are our employee…we will remove you, that is what we will do…. They [opposition will] lie to you that ‘filufyanye’ we will bring you back in 2021, they are lying to you, ‘Mukaloba ilya uma nangu ilya bola. I can tell you this, they are not coming in 2021 because Zambians have seen who they are because they are evil schemers,” President Lungu said.

“Those who are sabotaging government programmes, we will remove you, we do not mind whether you work for the council or in central government; we will remove you because twanaka.”
