KITWE giants Nkana are impressed with the reception accorded to them by Tunisian side Club Sportif Sfaxien ahead of tomorrow’s CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinal return match.
Nkana, who arrived in Tunisia on Thursday are carrying a 2-1 lead from last Sunday’s first leg victory in Kitwe.
The Beston Chambeshi coached side need a draw or any victory margin to advance to the last four of the competition.
Team manager Daniel Jere said from Tunis yesterday that Nkana are happy with the reception in North Africa and were looking forward to the encounter.
“I think we have not complained, everything is okay. We were received in Tunis by the delegation from the host. Even here where we are staying at Plaza Hotel, it’s fantastic, so we can’t complain. I think this is one of the best hotels and even the reception they gave us is perfect, so we are not complaining and we are ready for the match,” Jere said.
He said Nkana, who spent ten hours to reach Tunis from Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, did most of the preparations in Zambia.
“We travelled well though it was a tiresome flight. After taking off from Lusaka to Dubai which was about six hours then again we got a flight from Dubai to Tunis, it was six hours 30 minutes then we had to drive, it was about three hours. Anyway we expected that to happen and even the players we told them to tune their minds because we were going for a very important match,” he said.
“So today they have recovered fully and we had a morning training session so in the afternoon we are going for second one so that we do the perfection. Otherwise we did our preparations in Zambia so it is a matter of doing one or two things.”
The match billed for Taieb Mhiri Stadium will kickoff at 18:00 hours Zambian time.
