THE Patriotic Front in Kafue has suspended its youth district chairman Wellington Mwansa for allegedly squandering 35 kilogrammes of beef which was meant for a command centre in Chiawa during campaigns for the Kafue Council chairperson by-election. According to a letter of suspension addressed to Mwansa and signed by district secretary Lazarous Sikaona and copied to constituency chairman Gibson Sinkala, Mwansa has also been suspended among other charges embezzling PF funds.
PF sources said Mwansa in his capacity as district youth chairman was tasked to distribute food meant for party members but failed to deliver beef weighing 35kgs to a command centre in Chiawa.
Mwansa confirmed his suspension in a telephone interviews. He described his suspension as fake because he was not given chance to exculpate himself. Mwansa accused Sikaona of harbouring persona hatred for him. He said his suspension had no blessings from the entire PF district executive committee. He said the reasons that Sikaona cited for his suspension were petty and malicious and just meant to tarnish his good standing in the party and society at large. Mwansa said it was very naive and childish for Sikaona to accuse him of stealing 35kgs of meat which he could easily buy from butcheries if he needed fresh beef.
Efforts to get a comment from Sikaona proved futile by press time as his mobile phone went unanswered.
