STAUNCH PF cadre Maxwell Chongu has come to the defence of finance minister Margaret Mwanakatwe over reports that she was escorted out of the National Dialogue Forum drunk saying even President Edgar Lungu dozes off in an important meetings or events. He insisted that attacks on Mwanakatwe were nothing but as a result of those that saw her as a threat for running mate position ahead of 2021 general elections.
Chongu said Mwanakatwe was a hardworking minister who was occupied round the clock and tirelessly correcting various mistakes made in the past by her predecessors.
He listed a number of important leaders among them President Lungu whom he said has doze off in an important meeting or events due to tiredness.
“Honourable Margaret Dudu Mwanakatwe is one minister that wakes up early and works up late as in awkward working hours just to meet her deadlines. Honourable Margaret Dudu Mwanakatwe is not the only leader in this world to doze off in an important meeting or event, we have seen the likes of the former United States of America, most powerful man in the world President Barrack Hussein Obama dozing, Nelson Mandela, Kenneth David Kaunda, Gabriel Mugabe and lastly but not the least our very own President Edgar Chagwa Lungu as a result of tireless efforts they are putting in to make sure that this economy is on the right track,” Chongu said.
He said Mwanakatwe had been busy making sure that the economy was on the right track financially.
“I have noted with great concern that some toxic media tabloids have taken advantage of the current economic challenges to generate revenue by seeking for money from selfish, jealous and disgruntled individuals who are bent at nothing but to dent Honourable Margaret Dudu Mwanakatwe’s good and exemplary leadership qualities so as to pave way for their presidential running mate positions,” he said.
Chongu bragged that Mwanakatwe was a darling to the media from the time she acted as Republican President.
