Police send warrant for Prime TV footage

POLICE have issued warrants to Prime Television seeking video footage from the institution.
In a search warrant dated May 22, 2019 and signed by a deputy inspector C. Ngulube, the television is being asked to provide “video footage depicting Newsted Phiri aired on 14th March 2018 at 19:30 hours.”
In a second warrant written on the same day by deputy inspector Ngulube, Prime TV is being asked to provide “video footage aired on 23rd April 2018 at 19:30 hours depicting M [male]/ Joseph Mfula.”
A source, who did not want to be identified, said police wanted footage from the two stories aired in March and April 2018 in relation to “defamation of the President by a person from Sinda and another one from Southern Province.
“They are not even prominent people they are looking for,” said the source.
“And imagine they just brought the names of the people and not even explaining what the story was all about.”
