GOD can use a donkey to rebuke a stubborn Prophet like in the case of Balaam the Prophet, and may be President Lungu was used by God to rebuke the church, says Bishop Simon Chihana.
Bishop Chihana, who is International Fellowship of Christian Churches (IFCC), however, said there was absolutely nothing wrong in the words of President Lungu in admonishing the Church leadership about holiness.
On Sunday, President Lungu rebuked church leaders who run big cathedrals and synagogues not to think that they were more holy than others, further daring them to take him on if they felt aggrieved.
“There is absolutely nothing wrong in the words of President Lungu in admonishing the Church leadership about holiness. Yes, the truth of the matter is that, no amount of a great church building makes one holy or even holy than the Pastor in Shantumbu or anywhere in some very remote village or jungle. The obvious truth of the Word of God is that, it is the blood of Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God which makes every person holy who comes to God with a sincere heart,” Bishop Chihana said.
The clergyman further said the rebuke should not have come from the President but from among Church leaders, especially those that were considered to be senior in the work of God. Bishop Chihana further said God commands Kings and others never to touch the anointed of the Lord and never to do his prophets any harm. He warned that once a political leader attacks a man of God, that politician was attacking God and therefore God shall come to their defense.
“What we all must understand and agree with is that the gifts of God are never given to people or preachers on the basis of holiness or a certain measure of merit. God gives His gifts to all without a particular special favour that relates to holiness of any kind. So indeed, a pastor with a very big church hall or cathedral is absolutely the same with the one with a tiny congregation of twenty members in a remote place. The other cardinal truth of the Word of God is that all children of God that call upon the name of the Lord out of pure hearts, are required or called to pursue holiness through the teachings of the Word of God and prayers and fulfilling commandments of loving people around us by demonstrating kindness, care and other biblical virtues of the Holy Spirit in Christianity,” he said.
“A Prophet can rebuke a political leader on the basis of the truth, but a Prophet can only be rebuked if he has made his heart hard to change and loves material more than righteousness.”
Bishop Chihana further warned that political leader who touches a man of God disqualifies themselves from whatever position they hold if the rebuke was done out of impunity and undermining the authority of God.
“In this case, God can even use a donkey to rebuke such a stubborn Prophet, like in the case of Balaam the Prophet, and may be President Lungu was used by God, but if not, then this is the end of President Lungu to be in office as head of State for Zambia. For any political leader who touches a man of God, indeed disqualifies themselves from whatever position they hold, if the rebuke is done out of impunity and undermining the authority of God which men of God carry on behalf of God to overseer the souls of men on earth,” said Bishop Chihana. “We must realise that men of God are not managers of natural things alone, but they manage the lives of human beings for the eternal purposes, whilst politicians have a temporary cause. I must emphasize to the people of Zambia that no politician has ever survived the disqualification of God from a political position and some have died without remedy.”
