A PATRIOTIC Front cadre who allegedly assaulted a Breeze FM journalist during the Mkomba ward by-election in Lundazi has pleaded not guilty to assault and theft. Appearing before Lundazi resident magistrate Edward Chisanga on Monday was Frank Mwale, 41 a businessman of Chipata’s Jere compound. Mwale is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm on Grace Lungu contrary to section 248 of the Penal Code chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.
Mwale is also charged with theft of K400 cash, the property of Lungu, contrary to section 272 of the Penal Code.
Magistrate Chisanga, who on Friday revoked Mwale’s police bond for jumping bail, has granted the PF member K5,000 bail with three working sureties.
Magistrate Chisanga has since adjourned the matter to June 18 for commencement of trial.
Recently, MISA Zambia chairperson Hellen Mwale said the organisation would ensure that the law takes its course on the matter.
Mwale’s comment came in the wake of police delay in taking the matter to court.
