Chipolopolo test firing on elephants

CHIPOLOPOLO this afternoon take on Ivory Coast in the last friendly match at Zayed stadium in Abu Dhabi. The match this afternoon comes in the wake of Zambia’s 3-2 impressive win over Morocco in Marrakech last Sunday. Start-up Klings Kangwa who scored his debut senior goal against Morocco says the team ois looking to collect another win.

“All I can say is that we want to win this one as well,” Kangwa, who plays for Ndola side Builcon FC, said ahead of the match.

The youngster paid tribute to the coaches and team mates for trusting him and helping him to settle in the team.

“I want to appreciate the coaches for believing in me and selecting me to the senior national team; it’s not easy to go to the senior team at our age, it’s really unbelievable,” he said.

“Against Cameroon, it was a good performance from the team despite the loss, but we really played good we had a lot of chances, I can say that game is passed but after that we didn’t get our heads down, we looked up to the next and we even talked amongst us that we have to win the game against Morocco and for sure we worked hard against Morocco and we won, that’s what we wanted.”

Kangwa said playing big AfCON bound names gives him an opportunity to learn and mature.

“Great feeling to come from the bench to go and score and we were playing a good side with big players like Bernatia, Ziyech and all those players, they are a very good side. The senior players are encouraging me not to shy away but to be free and ask anything that I want to be helped. The friendly games have helped me because they are big games, and I like playing big games,” said Kangwa

Ivory Coast will be playing their last preparatory game today before heading to Cairo for the AfCON finals. Beston Chambeshi on the other hand is using most of the Under-23 players to prepare for the Olympic qualifiers coming up in September.
