ZAMBIA’s top sprinter Sydney Siame on Saturday failed to live up to expectation after he was beaten at the just ended Lausanne, Switzerland IAAF Diamond League.
Siame clocked 20.47 in the 200 metres men’s race behind all other participants in the race.
His delayed reaction to the gun and failure to pick up his pace during earned him the last spot against the world’s best runners.
The race was won by US Noah Lyles who clocked 19.50 seconds becoming the world’s fifth fastest man recorded.
The Diamond League is the prestigious and for the best athletes in the world.
The league should give Siame more reason to train harder as he prepares for the World Championship and the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Siame qualified for the World Championships in Doha and Olympics by setting a new National record in 200m with the time of 20.16 seconds in Europe.
Zambia Amateur Athletics Association (ZAAA) has sent two other athletes, Hazemba Chidaba and Daniel Mbewe, to camp in Europe.
