AGGREY Chiyangi says his team is ready for business as the home-grown Chipolopolo players take on Botswana in the 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers in Francistown this afternoon. Chipolopolo will be aiming to do a double over Botswana having defeated the Zebras 1-0 in the COSAFA Cup final to lift the regional tournament in South Africa last month.
Tonight’s match will determine the chances of qualification to the last round for Chipolopolo. With the return match slated for August 3 in Lusaka, the winner over two legs will face the winner between eSwatini and Angola in the final qualifying round.
“It depends on how quick you settle down and create chances and utilise those chances,” said Chiyangi ahead of the match.
“We don’t have any problems, we arrived last night…doctors gave us a report, everyone is just fine, the mood is very, very high. The team is ready for business tomorrow [today].”
Skipper Adrian Chama says an outright win will make the return leg much easier.
“Yes, we are ready. Going away, we are targeting a victory. All players are in high spirits and the morale is high too. It’s a tricky encounter knowing that we are meeting Botswana in a space of less than two months…,” said Chama.
The match kicks off at 19:00 hours Zambian time and will be broadcast on Botswana national television.
