WHERE is the President’s Intelligence that he cannot know the owner of the 48 houses, asks NDC vice-president Josephs Akafumba.
And Akafumba asks: if Zambians cannot be told who the owner of the 48 houses is, how can they be told the truth of where President Edgar Lungu’s wealth came from after he took over office?
In an interview, Akafumba, who is a former justice permanent secretary, said the ACC had failed Zambians.
“We know that Tasila, a simple councillor, has all of a sudden become so rich that she owns farms and property that she cannot account for from her income at Lusaka City Council. President Lungu is now stinking rich than he was before 2016. The question is who is funding Tasila? Where is Mr Lungu getting all the millions? Where is the OP (office of the President Special Division) if we can’t, as at now, know the owner of the 48 houses? I wonder what we are becoming as a state. It is a circus,” Akafumba said.
He noted that if the OP and the ACC could not know who owns the 48 houses then it was frightening for Zambia’s security.
Akafumba added that the President’s directive to the ACC was simply implying that his office was incompetent and the ACC was not working.
He said it implies that all government systems were rotten and that he feared for a transparent democracy.
“Imagine not knowing who owns a house, then how can we even say the elections are free and fair? Next it will be the prisons and hospitals saying they don’t know who is in cells and in wards. I will not be surprised if a police officer said he does not know who owns vehicle number so and so. We are being taken as fools by this government and that is why I say let’s vote them out in 2021,” Akafumba said.
“Let bring in CK (Chishmba Kambwili) and his team in NDC, then we will know all that Zambians deserve to know.”
He said Zambians shall in the next one and half years know the true extent of how much has been stolen by the PF government and who owns what and what houses, expensive cars and planes.
Akafumba said there was nothing that remains unrevealed on earth and some PF members shall soon tell us the truth about President Edgar Lungu’s government.
“Whoever had thought that UNIP was going to be out of office, if you had grown up in the 1970 and 1980s, you would never dare think that KK was ever going to be out of office, you could not dare speak ill of the UNIP government because the systems were very strong and ruthless then, but alas Chiluba [Frederick] came in and Mwanawasa [Levy] showed us the true acumen of what a lawyer can do. Whoever thought that a black man could rule the USA, for Martin Luther King Jr, it was a
dream, but that dream come true and Obama ruled that great nation diligently,” he said.
“Whatever the PF has stolen will be revealed, whoever owns the 48 houses shall be known and God forbid, please don’t start scampering, to cross the boarders, don’t go to Mombasa as Uhuru Kenyatta said in Livingstone. We will need you to answer the charges and tell the
people as to why you did what you did when the majority of them are wallowing in poverty, squalor and high unemployment levels…Zambians need good leaders and we have a good crop of them in the opposition like Chishimba Kambwili and not those who want Zambians go on a wild goose chase to find who owns 48 houses built on Zambian soil. Even on the moon, we would have long known who has built a toilet if there was one, but alas this Zambia under President Edgar Lungu, but we are comforted to know that in the next one and half years we will know the true extent of how much has been stolen by the PF government and who owns what and what in [terms of] houses, expensive cars and planes,” Akafumba, a prominent lawyer, said.
He said Zambians needed to continue praying hard so that God could not allow the PF to try and manipulate their democratic will.
Akafumba, a former justice permanent secretary, appealed to sane and well-meaning PF leaders to leave the ruling party or risk sinking with those who were “rotten with theft and corruption.”
“I know that there are well meaning Zambians in the PF, there are great men, women and youths who are being used to chant slogans while others are busy stealing and looting the nation. We have leaders in the PF who can influence the disappearance of documents of 48
buildings while Zambians can’t even manage to buy two bags of 25 kilogrammes of mealie-meal. But time will tell and time is not on their side,” he said.
Akafumba appealed to Zambians to rally behind the leadership of Chishimba Kambwili and the NDC so as to bring meaningful change to the nation.
“We need men like CK and he has a formidable team of women, men and the youths who want the best for all Zambians,” said Akafumba.
