Magistrate releases Kambwili on 50, 000 bail

LUSAKA magistrates Lameck Mwale has released Chishimba Kambwili on a K50,000 bail in his own recognisance.

The NDC president has pleaded not guilty to a charge of defamation of the president in a video that circulated on social media saying a dog, which used to stay in Chawama is moving about; whenever it is called it leaves.

It is alleged that Kambwili between August 26 and 27 defamed President Edgar Lungu with intent to bring his name into hatred, ridicule or contempt by publishing an insulting matter by word of mouth.
Police arrested Kambwili, a former Roan member of parliament and senior PF member last Wednesday had been detained at Lusaka Central Police.

In granting him bail, magistrate Mwale directed Kambwli provide two working sureties, who should be permanent residents of Lusaka bound to like conditions.
