THE young Chipolopolo should be able to stand the pressure that Congo Brazzaville will toss at them, urges Peter Makembo.
The Zambia Sports Fans Association (ZASPOFA) Patron says allowing opponents to play their game will put under pressure on Zambians.
“As we go into the second leg, they must believe in themselves. They need to be able to stand the pressure. [In the first leg] we allowed Congo Brazzaville to play in our area too much which put us under pressure,” Makembo said.
“Congo almost embarrassed us when they scored and slowed down the temple of the game. They went on to defend and catch us on counterattacks but we managed to penetrate them and get a winner.”
He also thanked President Edgar Lungu and other soccer fans for the support they have given the team.
“I thank the fans even His Excellency for coming out to watch the boys in the first leg. We had a low turnout during the ABSA Cup final played in Ndola but on this day the crowd was excellent,” he said.
Makembo will be travelling to cheer the team.
A goalless draw will see the young Chipolopolo through to the finals in Egypt in November.
