SWIMMER Tilka Paljk says the government has not paid her the K3,000 which she was promised after minting a bronze medal at last months All Africa Games held in Morocco.

But Ministry of Sports director of sports Bessy Chilemu said all the athletes that won medals at the All Africa Games held in Morocco were paid in full.

The bronze medalist said the Ministry of Sports claims to have sent her K4,500 which was meant to go to Lorita Mwango but it never reflected in her account.

“So, I was supposed to get K3,000 but they sent it to the chess player who was supposed to get 4,500. Then they told me to send her the money since it was deposited into my account but I have not received anything. They also have not topped up and I don’t think they will. I think they just said that to keep me quiet,” she said.

“We have still not received anything. I was contacted by someone showing me a proof of payment, but it was the wrong account number and wrong amount that was supposed to be for the chess player. She told me that she got my prize money instead. I was contacted last week Monday, still nothing has been done.”

But Chilemu said all the athletes that won medals at the All Africa Games held in Morocco were paid in full.

“They were paid a longtime ago including the swimmer. Tilka was paid her dues and if she didn’t receive the money why hasn’t she come to my office? Besides we have been travelling with her for other tournaments and we have her details, why this time?” asked Chilemu.
