Zambia Airforce Commander Lieutenant General David Muma has noted that development of sports infrastructure and access to training facilities is key in capacity building of sports
personnel in the defence force and among civilians.
Speaking during the 2019 Zambia Air Force Commander’s Netball Tournament held at the Olympic Youth Development Center in Lusaka yesterday, Lt Gen Muma said the Airforce was committed to promoting sports at both institutional and national levels.
“The Airforce will continue to support the development of netball so that Zambia can become a power house at continental level and having more facilities and access is key in capacity building of sports personnel in the defence force and among civilians, ” Lt Gen Muma said.
He urged the participants to take part in active sports to maintain their physical and mental health.
And Midlands Netball Association of Zambia president Felix Mkandawire said hosting the Zambia Air Force Commander’s Netball Tournament was a major boost to the sport.
“With partners like the Zambia Air Force coming on board, more athletes will live healthy lives hence focusing on the growth and development of the sport,” Mkandawire said.
45 netball teams from the netball league, Zambia Air Force, Community, madalas and men’s league are taking part in the two-day event.
