ZAMBIA has failed to qualify for next year’s Morocco Futsal Africa Cup after losing 9-1 to Angola in the second and final leg of the qualifiers.
The result means that Brian Kunsanama’s side lost 13-1 on aggregate.
And Football Association of Zambia technical director Lyson Zulu said failure to qualify to the finals made sad reading but the association would work on modalities that will improve the sport.
“It’s sad we have failed to qualify to the Africa Cup but there are things that we need to work on. If you look at the team, it has been there for long time, so we need to start to groom more young talent as we wait for the next qualifiers,” said Zulu. “We have also written to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to help us in capacity building of our coaches and referees through the guidelines of futsal. You know it’s different from football, so all those with the facilities we just have to work together for one common goal.”
Zambia, currently ranked fourth in Africa, is expected to drop from the rankings after failing to qualify for next year’s showpiece.
