LEGENDARY defender Joseph Musonda has returned to Nkana as fitness manager.
Musonda has been the longest serving player at the club.
The 2012 Chipolopolo Africa Cup winner has signed a two-year contract with the club.
Musonda had briefly left the Super League side after his contract as a player ended in July but returned to start his coaching career at the club where he spent most of his career.
“He has signed a two-year contract as a physical trainer. You know he has been part of the team for a long time and the coaches feel it’s important to continue with him in another role on the technical bench,” said Nkana chief executive officer Charles Chakatazya.
Musonda yesterday took the players through a fitness session.
“Yes, he is here as a physical trainer. He is someone who understands the environment here. He has worked with us, so we feel it’s important to retain him in another capacity on the technical bench,” said coach Manfred Chabinga.
Meanwhile, striker Idris Mbombo sat out Tuesday’s training session as he continues to recover from malaria, with team physio Gibson Mambwe hoping that the striker will make a full recovery before the international break ends.
