SOUTHERN Province UPND chairman Billiard Makwembo says the PF is dead scared of the unity of purpose in Parliament exhibited by UPND lawmakers and its alliance partners.
Makwembo says it is extremely shocking that the PF leadership has failed to condemn its Northern Province members for inciting hatred against Tongas.
In a press statement issued by his deputy information and publicity secretary Neto Halwabala on the suspension of Mazabuka member of parliament Gary Nkombo from the House, Makwembo urged the UPND members of parliament to remain strong, focused and united.
“Gary Nkombo will never walk alone. We know that the Patriotic Front is dead scared of the unity of purpose in Parliament exhibited by UPND members of parliament and our alliance partners,” he stated. “As UPND in Southern Province, we are solidly behind Hon Gary Nkombo during his suspension from Parliament. It is a well-known fact that his voice in Parliament is a thorn in PF’s political skin.”
Makwembo said the suspension of Nkombo from the House by Speaker Patrick Matibini should not create fear in the opposition lawmakers as they speak for the voiceless.
He urged UPND members to be proud of their gallant men and women in Parliament.
“They are our voice of hope in Parliament and we urge you to continue doing party mobilisation in order to usher in HH (Hakainde Hichilema) in State House come 2021 general elections,” Makwembo said.
He reminded the PF that there were members of parliament in Southern Province who hail from Northern Province.
“Tongas are not tribal, we have MP’s and headmen here in Southern Province who hail from Northern and other provinces such as Eastern Province,” said Makwembo.
