PATSON Daka and Enock Mwepu have apologised to Zambians for the Under-23’s failure to progress to the semifinals of the ongoing U23 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
According to a Facebook post, Mwepu said he and his Redbull Salzburg teammate were sorry for letting the nation down.
Zambia exited at the group stage.
“The U23 AfCON was a learning experience for a lot of us. We’re sorry to have let the nation down. It’s time to pick ourselves up and bounce back. As always I’m proud to represent Zambia and will give it my all today,” said Mwepu.
And Daka said he was disappointed with the junior Chipolopolo’s exit from the tournament and had learnt something from it.
“I’m disappointed not to have progressed at the U23 AfCON. The entire experience was great and lessons have been learnt. Time to shift my attention to the senior Zambia team,” said Daka.
The duo joined the senior team after the tournament in Egypt where they played the second game against Nigeria and the final group game against Ivory Coast.
