THE awards ceremony of the Zambian Art and Design Show (ZADS) will this Sunday be held at the Polocrosse Club in Lusaka.
The awards have been organised by ZADS with the support of Private Enterprise Programme (PEPZ) and the National Arts Council.
According to a statement, the Zambia Artisan Award (ZAA), which was launched in 2018 by PEPZ to celebrate the excellence, creativity and talent of artisans in the country, has been rebranded to the Zambian Art and Design Awards (ZADA).
“The 2019 ZADA promises to capture a broader spectrum of creators and enhanced presentation through the exhibitors participating at the Zambian Art and Design Show,” reads the statement.
The awards categories include: Most Innovative New Product Collection, Most Promising Young Artisan Entrepreneur, Most Creative ZADS Stand, Most Innovative Recycled Product, and Best Community Recognition Award.
“Winners will receive cash prizes of up to K10,000 and other complimentary packages including a trophy. ZADS show-goers participate and vote for their favourite exhibitors by public vote during the show on November 23,” reads the statement.
“The awards aim to provide a platform to celebrate the skills of artisans throughout Zambia, through encouraging innovation, continual improvement, production of quality marketable products, and pave the way for young artisan entrepreneurs to embrace handicrafts among other things.”
