THE Zambia Squash Association has moved this year’s Midlands Open to November 30 and December 1.
General secretary Chomba Mwansa said the Zambia National Service-sponsored tournament which was initially supposed to take place in November 24 and 25 will take place at Lusaka Squash Club.
Mwansa said the tournament has attracted foreign players from Kenya and South African based Zambian players.
He said this is a plus to the association as tournaments are graded by how many foreign players get attracted and participate.
The Midlands Open had not taken place since 2016 due to lack of sponsorship.
Mwansa thanked the Zambia National Service for the sponsorship which was initially done by the Zambia Army.
“So we have moved from one military outfit to another. We are confident the Zambia Army will take up sponsorship of the Zambia Open Squash,” he said.
He said the Midlands Open was an individual tournament involving the ladies draw and men’s draw.
Mwansa has invited members of the public, media houses to go and watch and support the tournament.
