YOU need to expect a lot from me, says young Napsa stars striker Jimmy Mukeya.
Mukeya scored two goals against Botswana on Wednesday in the opening match of THE Group A of the 2019 COSAFA Under 20 tournament.
The result saw the young Chipolopolo go top of Group A on goal difference with Malawi who beat Comoros 4-0 earlier in the day.
The two goals helped Mukeya to be voted man-of-the-match and also be the tournament’s top goal scorer contender.
Mukeya, who scored in the 64 and 79th minute, said his job as a striker is to score more goals during the tournament.
“I’m very happy to be named a man of the match and it’s my first time to play for the junior national team level. I just remained focused to score the goals, the coach just trusted me to score in the COSAFA,” he said. “You need to expect a lot from me. I need to make Zambians proud and we are hosting, we need to perform to our level best.”
Mukeya said he needs to score more goals to maintain his position.
“I’m into it that’s my job. I am a striker I need to score more goals for me to maintain my position as a striker. As a team we need to remain focused and concentrate because there are a lot of games ahead of us until we win the finals,” he said.
Mukeya will be hoping to add to his tally of goals when Zambia take on Comoros on Saturday in the second game of the Group A match and a win for Oswald Mutapa’s boys will see them through to the knockout stage of the competition.
