ZAMBIA’S top chess player Andrew Kayonde has resigned as Chess Federation of Zambia treasurer after 19 months in office.
CFZ general secretary Chanda Nsakanya said the executive committee regretfully announces the resignation of Kayonde as treasurer, effective Monday, December 9.
“Andrew is at the forefront of some demanding businesses which greatly compete for his presence, time and effort. Being Zambia’s number one active chess player also adds complexity to effectively balancing the requirements of his role as treasurer, ” he said.
“The executive committee thanks Andrew for his contributions of serving on this team from May 2018 and wishes him well in all of his future endeavours.”
In accordance with the constitution of Chess Federation of Zambia Article 16 Section 16.1 Casual Vacancies: “Any casual vacancy occurring in the position of the Executive may be filled by the remaining Executive Members from among appropriately qualified personnel. Any casual vacancy may only be filled for the remainder of the Executive’s term under this constitution.”
The executive committee is hopeful to appoint a new treasurer as soon as possible.
