[By Bright Tembo]

THE stage has been set for the Kick out HIV/AIDS Boxing tournament set for Mulungushi International Conference Centre tomorrow evening.

The boxing tournament will see seven fights with five supporting bouts.

The two title bouts have Interxity Academy Boxer Bernard Mwango taking on Tanzania’s Juma Fundi for the World Professional Boxing Federation (WPBF) welterweight title which will be the main bout.

Mwango is a seasoned boxer having been on the scene for the past five years and will be looking to bag a title to his name this evening.

Fundi, however, posses a threat to Mwango’s title aspirations as he boasts of a record 35 fights with 30 wins and five losses.

“I’m very ready for this fight. I’m in Zambia to win and grab the title as I have been preparing hard for this competition. I’ll use my brain to win the fight,” Juma said.

The supporting bout will see another Interxity boxer, Catherine Mulyata, 19, fight 35-year-old Zimbabwean Emily Kubwalo in a WPBF Bantamweight title contest.

Kubwalo said she was ready for the fight.

She boasts of seven fights having won five of them and two losses, one at the hands of Lorita Muzeya.

“This is the second time I’m coming to Zambia, the first I was not so successful because I lost to Lorita Muzeya. This time I’ve come very prepared to emerge champion,” Kubwalo said.

Mulyata, on the other hand, said that she was very ready for the fight and declared that the belt will remain home.

“I’m very much ready for the fight and I will make sure the belt remains here,” said Mulyata.
