FOURTH Republican president Rupiah Banda has tipped the Zambia U-20 Women’s national team to beat South Africa on Saturday in the first leg world cup qualifier match at Nkoloma stadium.
Speaking to the young Copper Queens at Barca Academy in Lusaka yesterday, Banda said he has hope that the girls would beat South Africa at home.
“Zambia and South Africa are brother or sister countries but if the two are playing, this is my team (Zambia). I wish you all the best. If the Minister (of Sports) invites me, I will come and watch you and sure you will make it,” Banda said.
Zambia will host South Africa on January 18 and travel for the away fixture on the weekend of January 31 to February 2.
Winner between Zambia and South Africa will play either Namibia or Botswana in the next round.
Two more rounds will be played thereafter in the race to the FIFA World Cup.
