LAZ bans Nicholas Chanda from practicing law

THE Law Association of Zambia has with immediate effect suspended Lusaka lawyer Nicholas Chanda and his colleague, Brian Singine of Messrs York Partners, for alleged professional misconduct.

According to a notice dated February 18, 2020, issued by LAZ legal practitioners Committee secretary Mulumba Mutimushi, the association has directed that the two lawyers cease practicing until further notice and that their law firms be shut down immediately.

“Take Notice that the above named Legal Practitioners have been suspended from practicing law with immediate effect. It is further ordered that the Law Firms be closed with immediate effect,” reads the letter.

“By this notice, the said Practitioners are not to appear in any Court of Law/Tribunal and should not file Court process of whatever nature until further notice from the Legal Practitioners’ Committee.”

Chanda of Messrs Nicholas Chanda and Associates and Singine are expected to appear before the legal practitioners’ central committee for disciplinary hearing.

The duo will not have audience before any court pending the outcome of their disciplinary hearing.
