MTN Zambia chief executive officer Bart Hofker has pledged to improve the network around Feni area and other outskirts.
Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Paramount Chief Mpezeni at Laweni in Mtenguleni on Friday, Hofker said MTN was determined to improve its network.
“Paramount Chief, we’ve gotten your complaint here, we’ll check and then improve it,” he said.
Hofker said just like the Ngonis, MTN had its roots in South Africa.
He said MTN was rolling out or accelerating a MOMO platform where people get financial inclusion even in rural areas.
Hofker said MTN was humbled to be associated with the Nc’wala ceremony, which was the celebration of the first fruits, unity and togetherness.
He also highlighted a number of activities that MTN does including the provision of solar system and many others.
The MTN team also informed the Paramount Chief who was accompanied by senior chief Nzamane that through MOMO, the network provider also provides loans of up to K10,000.
But Mpezeni hoped that the interest rate was not very high going by the current bad economy.
Senior Chief Nzamane said interest rates in the banks where currently high.
After the courtesy call, the MTN team posed for some photos with the Paramount Chief and chieftainess Nkomeshya of Chongwe district who also paid a courtesy call on Mpezni.
