PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has terminated Zambia National Service (ZNS) deputy commandant, Major General Alick Kamiji’s contract with immediate effect.
According a statement released by his special assistant for press and public relations Isaac Chipampe, President Lungu replaced Maj Gen Kamiji with Brigadier General Benson Miti who he has since elevated in rank.
Citing powers vested in him by the Constitution, President Lungu did not give reasons for terminating Maj Gen Kamiji’s contract.
He thanked Maj Gen Kamiji for the services he rendered to the country and wished him well in his future endeavours.
And in his letter to Maj Gen Miti, President Lungu said: “In exercise of the powers vested in me by Article 91 (l), 91 (2) and 92 (1) of the Constitution of Zambia, I have decided to promote you to the rank of Maj Gen and appointed you as Zambia National Service deputy commandant with immediate effect.”
