SOUTH Africa based Zambian hitman Mwape ‘The Rocket’ Musonda was on fire again on Saturday for Black Leopards with a brace against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzihandila (TTM) in the Premier Soccer League relegation/promotion playoffs.
Musonda, the former Zanaco striker, scored the opener in the first half of the Limpopo derby, before TTM pulled one back through Thembisani Nevhulamba.
However, Leopards’ Khomotso Masia made it 2-1 with his last kick of the first half.
Musonda, 29, was not yet done as he headed home in the final stages of the match to make it 3-1 and keep promotion hopes for Lidoda Duvha firmly on track.
The Rocket has now scored 3 goals for Black Leopards in a two-legged play off against Rodrick Kabwe’s Ajax Cape Town and TTM respectively to help his club maintain their slot in the PSL.
He ended the season with nine league goals, making it 12 goals from the three goals he has scored so far in the playoffs.
In the 2019/2020 season, the former Zanaco and Konkola Blades man was PSL top scorer with 16 goals.
With two wins out of two, Black Leopards have opened a three-point lead at the top of the playoffs table heading into Friday’s third match against Roderick Kabwe’s Ajax, who are second on the log.
Musonda and company will wrap up the playoffs with TTM on September 22 in the matches that are being played on a round robin basis by three clubs.
