People need a new order – Kalaba

DEMOCRATIC Party leader Harry Kalaba says his party is demystifying the myth that Eastern Province is a bedroom for a particular political party.

He says the DP will get more votes in Eastern Province because people have realised that they need a new order.

In an interview on Monday, Kalaba said Eastern Province is fertile for DP.

“We’ve come to Eastern Province because this is a very critical province. There has been these lies flying around that Eastern Province belongs to a particular political party. We are demystifying the myth as DP that Eastern Province belongs to all Zambians,” he said. “The people of Eastern are a friendly. People of Eastern Province are a welcoming people. The people of Eastern Province are also looking for change just like any other province.”

Kalaba said the myth that Eastern Province belongs to a particular party was not there.

“Let all the people register (as voters) because the price of mealie-meal in Chipata is just as it is in Kasama. The price of social commodities are high just like everywhere else,” he said.

Kalaba urged Zambians to take advantage of the mobile voter registration to obtain voter’s cards.

“I urge Zambians to take advantage and register. You only win an election during the registration process. If you don’t register you can’t win an election. So let’s not just talk the talk, let’s insist that we go and get registered as a people,” he said.

Kalaba urged DP members to talk less and do more action.

“Let’s talk less and show more action, the ground is very fertile for DP in Eastern Province. I can tell you with certainty that the DP will get more votes here in Eastern Province because people have realised that they need a new order. You know we’ve struggled enough and the Zambian people now are looking for new political dispensation that will take them to the next stage and that can only be the DP. People want to start afresh,” said Kalaba.
