MTN/FAZ Super League leaders Zesco United coach Mumamba Numba says his side is targeting a minimum 12 points in the next five games to be in pole position to win the league title.
Numba was speaking after his team opened a seven point-lead at the top of the league standings following a 2-1 win over his former side Zanaco at the weekend.
He said consistency will be key to his team’s aspirations of wrestling the title from struggling holders Nkana.
“This is what we expect from a team like us, we have to be consistent. The next five games will be important if we can collect at least a minimum 12 points in five games then we will be in a better position to win the title,” said Numba.
“This is the time we need to even double our work because the league is very tight. We are playing Green Buffaloes next; it is also a good side. We are going back to training so that we can get three points there. Very important win, we needed this win so that we can open up a seven point. It was a tough game; it’s a sweet victory because we lost first game to Zanaco in the first round.”
His opposite number Chris Kaunda credited Zesco for the win, saying the Ndola side played better football.
Kaunda however refused to give up on the title chances, saying there were still more games to go before the season ended.
